Apple has dropped the prices of its best-selling Indian Smartphone Apple iPhone 5s for the third time in the three months. This price drops bringing iPhone 5s almost half of the previous prices in September levels.
iPhone 5s acquires almost the 50% of total iPhone sales in India as per the retailer’s views. So no doubt we can say that it is the most popular iPhone in India. Apple had lowered the price of iPhone 5s during Dussehra in October and then again before Diwali in November.
Apple iPhone 5s Features:
Apple iPhone 5s has a touch screen display of 4.00-inch that has a resolution of 640 pixels by 1136 pixels at a PPI of 326 pixels/ inch. It is powered by a dual-core Apple A7 (64-bit) processor of 1.3GHz and with the RAM capacity of 1 GB.
The internal storage capacity of iPhone 5s is 16 GB. The iPhone 5s has a primary camera of 8-megapixel and a 1.2 megapixel front camera for taking selfies. It runs on iOS version of 7 and is powered by a non-removable battery of 1570 mAh.
Why the pricing were dropped?
Now, in India iPhone 5s price starts from around Rs 22,000 down from Rs 44,500 in September. This price drop of iPhone 5s makes it one of the lowest Apple products in India. The reason behind this price drop may be to shore up sales as well as demand for its new Smartphone iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
Apple released their new series of Smartphone iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in September 2015. A senior executive said that, the sale of new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus has lower down after getting the market during Diwali, and this prompted Apple to successively bring down the price of its best-selling iPhone 5s. He also added, Companies seldom drop prices such frequently for their popular models, so it’s quite interesting for such decisions.
Analysts said Apple’s price cut of iPhone 5s is part of its strategy to build a stronger portfolio in the mid-segment Smartphone market.
Tarun Pathak, a senior telecom analyst said that “The $250-400 price band is where Apple wants to focus its energies in India since they want to lock in more consumers into their eco-system which would build up a base for upgradations when newer iPhone are launched,”
According to Mr. Pathak, there are around 3.5 million of iPhone users in India till September 2015 and out of this almost 1.2 million uses iPhone 5 series. The retailers think that the price cut would help Apple to compete better with the other competitors like Samsung.
These are the valid reasons why the pricings of the Apple iPhone 5S had been dropped. Lets hope for better results in the market and good news for all the upcoming buyers.
